ABOUT

There are various different types of edible pumpkins. These also all differ in shape, colour, size and weight. A well known variant is the bottle gourd. There is plenty of flesh underneath the thick skin of all the different types, in all sorts of different shades of orange. You will find plenty of seeds in the centre. Thirty percent of the pumpkin consists of skin and seeds. The pumpkin’s flavour ranges from refreshing to nutty and buttery. Pumpkins also have diuretic properties.

PREPARATION

Cut open around the top. Use a spoon to scoop out the seeds and threads. The pumpkin can also be washed, peeled and cut into pieces. Pumpkins can be filled too. Pumpkins are often used to make soup with.
