The habanero pepper is a chilli pepper which is one of the spiciest peppers in the world. The pepper is red and orange-yellow in colour and is shaped like a lampion. The pepper can be boiled, roasted or eaten raw. Spiciness: approximately 100.000 to 120.000 Scoville units.

PREPARATION

Buy firm and shiny peppers with fresh green stalks. Habanero peppers can be stored at room temperature for a week. A few weeks longer in the fridge. Peppers are also very suitable for freezing. Wash the peppers before use and remove the stalk. If the pepper isn’t being cooked in its entirety, half the pepper in length with a knife and scrape out the seeds. Cut the pepper into slices for further use.
