KIWANO

ABOUT

The kiwano is also known as melano. It’s related to the melon and cucumber. The fruit has an oval shape with small protrusions. The flesh is green with edible seeds. The fruit has a refreshing sweet and sour taste.

PREPARATION

The kiwano is ripe once it has turned orange. A green kiwano is not yet ripe and is best left at room temperature to continue to ripen. Ripe fruits should preferably be stored in the fridge. The flesh can be scooped out by vertically cutting the fruit into two.
