The mango is the most important fruit in the tropics after the banana. It’s a stone fruit which comes in various different varieties. The skin is up to 2mm thick and is thick and shiny. The skin can be green, yellow, orange, red to parti-coloured. The flesh is yellow, soft and juicy and tastes sweet. There is a large, non-edible seed in the centre. TFC ripens mangos so they are sold ‘ready to eat’.
