ABOUT

There are various different types of edible pumpkins. These all differ in shape, colour, size and weight. There is plenty of flesh in all sorts of shades of orange underneath the skin of all types of pumpkin, with an abundance of seeds in the centre. Thirty percent of the pumpkin is made up of skin and seeds. The pumpkin has a refreshing flavour. The pumpkin also has diuretic properties.

PREPARATION

Cut open around the top. Use a spoon to scoop out the seeds and threads. Wash the pumpkin and cut it into pieces, either before or after peeling. Pumpkins can be filled too. Pumpkins are often used to make soup with.
