SWEETIE

ABOUT

The sweetie is a cross between a grapefruit and a pomelo and comes from Israel. The skin is thick and green to yellow in colour. The flesh is very light yellow and consists of thick segments. The fruit tastes sweet and sour.

PREPARATION

A sweetie is ripe when the skin turns a beautiful green. Unripe fruits will ripen best at room temperature. The sweetie can be peeled in order to be eaten fresh, or it can be squeezed for juice. The fruit can be scooped out by cutting the sweetie through the centre and cutting into the segments of flesh with a sharp knife. The skin is not edible.
